I messed with a few lenses this week but ultimately went back to old faithful - the 35mm prime. It sounds cliche and certainly sounds like something everyone else says it but I’ll say it anyway. It’s really nice to use one lens you like and make images you’re proud of. I look forward to the continued challenge to myself to just keep using it and only it for the majority of my work when it’s appropriate and see where it’ll take my image making. You know you go back and forth. Am I a 24, 35 or 50 guy? I landed on the 35 again this week. All the frames from the previous and next posts were shot on the Leica R 35mm f2.

Getting my @lens_addiction on with this post.
By far my favorite combination for full frame shooting on the @aivascope has been the @leicacamerausa R 60mm f2.8 macro. It’s small, the image is sharp, bokeh is round wide open, and it covers the sensor fully without there being too much weirdness or vignetting - usable for more than just creative projects.

Have you guys heard of the @eyedirect ? It’s a pretty large, unique and specific piece of kit but it’s really the only solution which allows the interviewer to make direct eye to eye contact with the interviewee all while ensuring the interviewee is looking directly into the lens of the camera using mirrors. You’ve seen it in recent years in some Netflix docs and beyond and really gives you as the viewer a direct connection to the subject. One downside is that I haven’t figured out how to use 4x5.65 filters and the Eye Direct at the same time. It’s not for everything but when it’s used appropriately it is a definite connection advantage over the traditional look-off-camera interview. It’s available for rent over at @sharegrid
